Sara Sharif: Dad and stepmum release video in first public contact since her death
The father and stepmother of the little girl found dead at her Surrey home have made contact, via a video, saying they are willing to cooperate with the UK authorities.
Sara Sharif, 10, was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey, on 10 August. Her father Urfan Sharif, his partner Beinash Batool and brother Faisal Malik all fled to Pakistan one day before her body was discovered.
UK and Pakistani authorities have been searching for the missing three – who are wanted in relation to the murder investigation.
In the footage, the father Sharif does not speak whilst Batool reads from a notebook.
She only speaks about Sara in two sentences, describing her death as an “incident.”
Batool ends the video saying they will co-operate with the UK police to fight their case.
The video was sent to the BBC.
An inquest into Sara’s death could not ascertain her exact cause of death, but it was likely to be “unnatural.”
Post-mortem tests found Sara sustained “multiple and extensive injuries.”
Sara’s mother Olga Sharif told Polish television she hardly recognised her daughter in the mortuary, because of her injuries.
