Sam Smith went all out for this year’s Grammys red carpet, ahead of their eagerly-anticipated performance.
The 30-year-old has rarely been out of the headlines recently, thanks to the epic music video for their track, I’m Not Here To Make Friends – with fans passionately jumping to their defense over criticism.
Fresh after landing their third number one album, with Gloria, the musician ignored the backlash as they rocked up to the prestigious ceremony, held at the Crypto.com Arena in LA.
Walking into the venue, the Latch singer – who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns – was all smiles in a dramatic, bright red floor-length coat – over the top of a leather jumpsuit, complete with sheer panels.
They completed the look with red platform shoes, a bejeweled cane and top hat, with lace detailing over their eyes.
Sam was joined by Kim Petras on the red carpet, before their anticipated performance of their iconic duet. Unholy, later in the night.

The pair, who are among the nominees thanks to their collaboration, were also surrounded by a group of pals – including Gottmik and Violet Chachki – who luckily all got the red memo.
Sam’s appearance comes after their newly-released music video for I’m Not Here To Make Friends sparked backlash on social media.
The NSFW clip featured scantily-clad dancers and suggestive dance moves, with raised eyebrows from fans around the world.
Critics voiced their outrage at the sexual nature of the music video, while many others instantly jumped to the Oscar-winner’s defense.
