Ryan Reynolds made sure not to mention the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle series when meeting King Charles (Picture: Karwai Tang)
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had to be on their best behaviour when meeting King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla this week, which of course meant no mentioning of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix series.
The American actors met the royals on Friday, the day after the first three episodes of the series were released.
In the series, Harry and Meghan claimed that ‘salacious’ stories were ‘planted’ in the press in the lead-up to their 2018 wedding, as well as allegedly being told it was a ‘rite of passage’ for incoming members of the family to be subjected to backlash.
The California-based couple also made other revelations about the difficulties they’ve faced since their relationship went public.
So you can imagine that when meeting the King and his wife soon after, the actors made sure to not rock the boat even more.
On Friday Charles and Camilla visited them at Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Ground, the club which they purchased back in 2020.
Being asked by the media if they would be bringing up the documentary ahead of the meeting, they went with the approach to play dumb.

‘I’ve never heard of it,’ Rob, 45, said.
‘I’ve not seen it,’ Ryan, 46, added.
‘As a Canadian, and I’m sure Rob will speak as an American, we are not steeped in the culture as one would be growing up in the UK.’
However, they did admit that they had both taken etiquette lessons before the King’s visit and Ryan revealed that he was ‘impossibly excited’ to meet the monarch in Wales.

‘Rob and I both said early on, and this holds true for the rest of our lives, we will do anything to uplift this community and this club and having the King pay a visit is certainly one way to do it, that’s for sure,’ he said.

They bought the club from Supporters Trust for £2million and they’ve since been followed by cameras to document their quest to take Wrexham global in a new documentary, Welcome To Wrexham, which includes behind-the-scenes footage and access.
Welcome to Wrexham is streaming on Disney Plus.
