Sporting boss Ruben Amorim says that everyone at the Lisbon club likes Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Manchester United forward made his unhappiness clear in an explosive interview.
Ronaldo sat down with Piers Morgan and claimed he had been betrayed by Manchester United, he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag and he feels he is being forced out of the club.
It is hard to imagine that the 37-year-old has much of a future at Old Trafford after settling fire to a number of bridges with the interview, although where he could move to is not entirely clear.
Many of Europe’s top clubs were linked with the veteran in the summer but none made a move due to his age, expense and reputation, so it will be interesting to see if any are now keen in January.
Ronaldo started his professional career at Sporting and they are one of the clubs linked with a move for him, something that didn’t happen over the summer, but Amorim says there is no shortage of love for the striker in Lisbon.
‘I’ve been asked this question a thousand times. Ronaldo is a Manchester United player,’ Amorim told Ojogo.

‘Everyone at Sporting likes him, there’s not much to say. He himself says he wants to do things in peace to follow his future. He will decide his future.
‘I won’t be here telling you how things are for me. In the summer it became obvious that things don’t all pass me by. There’s the club, there’s the structure. He’s a Manchester United player.’
