The Guardian - Royals took £1.2bn in private income from estates

Summary of the front page

The Guardian reports that the King and the late Queen Elizabeth II have received payments equivalent to more than £1bn from two estates at the centre of a centuries-old debate over whether their profits should be given to the public instead.

The front page also leaves a small amount of space to report on the Met Police facing its biggest scandal and Nicola Sturgeon’s husband being questioned into SNP funding inquiry.

Middle East erupts as Israel vows to retaliate – Paper Talk

Wednesday’s front pages are dominated by last night’s escalation in the Middle East following Iran’s missile attack on Israel (in response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the killing of the Hezbollah leader) and Israel’s vow to respond. It has led to fears that an all-out war is on the horizon.

Many of the newspaper’s editorials and leader columns call on greater diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the crisis.
