Sir Rod Stewart has revealed he is witnessing menopause for the first time with his wife Penny Lancaster as his previous marriages haven’t lasted long enough.
The 77-year-old married Loose Women panellist Penny, 51, in 2007, with the TV star becoming Sir Rod’s third wife.
Singer Sir Rod previously married American actress Alana Collins in 1979, with them divorcing in 1984 when she was 39 years old.
His second marriage, to model Rachel Hunter, ended in 2006 when she was 37 years old.
Sir Rod has now opened up on his experience of menopause with Penny in an interview with Reader’s Digest after he backed her Menopause Mandate campaign to raise awareness back in April.
He told the publication: ‘I hadn’t seen [the menopause] before because my marriages didn’t last that long. So Penny was the first.

‘She would get into blinding fits of rage. One night she threw utensils, so me and the boys [sons Alastair, 16, and Aiden, 11] gave her a hug and since then she’s worked to let people know what it is.
‘Men have to understand and not just go down the pub,’ he continued.
The rockstar has previously admitted he found the experience of Penny’s menopause ‘frightening’.
Speaking on Loose Women last year, he said: ‘I googled menopause so much when she was going through it, she was in a fragile situation.

‘I just had to listen and learn and get ready for saucepans being thrown through the kitchen.
‘It was frightening, it wasn’t the person I married, she explained it through the tears and we talked it through.’
Earlier this year, Penny opened up about the support Sir Rod has given her as she bids to educate people on menopause and to make medication affordable.
She told The Telegraph: ‘First of all he had empathy towards me and how I was suffering from it.

‘We’ve always been good at communicating with one another and explaining how we feel, so he got to understand.
‘Then he wanted to encourage men to sit up and take note. He’s going: “This isn’t just a women’s problem. We need to recognise it.” It affects husbands, partners, children.’
