People living across the capital will face disruption as RideLondon 2023 takes place on Sunday (May 28).
After a successful inaugural year in 2022, the cycling event will return with riders starting in central London and travelling through Essex before making their return on 60-mile and 100-mile routes.
However, many may be wondering how the race will affect their travel plans, with Ongar Council saying last year’s event left many unable to leave the area in their cars, reports Essex Live.
Councillor Derek Birch, chairman of Ongar Town Council, told the publication about his concerns for the event, saying: ‘I’m not saying we don’t want it. We don’t want it in its present format.
‘It blocks off the high street for the whole day and because the majority of roads in Ongar all come off the high street – the high street is the main artery – if you are not out by about 5.30am you can’t get out and even then you can’t back until about 7pm.’
