If you’re ready to take your monster slaying skills to the next level, make sure you know how to unlock all the Resident Evil 4 remake weapons at your disposal.

The Resident Evil 4 remake has been a critical and commercial smash but the emphasis is much more on action than it is horror, which means you need all the weapons you can get to survive.

Luckily, the game offers you a vast arsenal of guns to choose from, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

So, whether you’re a fan of Leon’s classic Silver Ghost handgun or prefer to wield more powerful weapons like the Broken Butterfly, we’ve got you covered with our complete guide to all the weapons in the Resident Evil 4 remake.

The more you progress in the game you’ll find yourself accumulating more firepower than a small army, including regular guns, trusty knives, grenades, and even a Rocket Launcher.

All the handguns in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    SG-09

The SG-O9 handgun is Leon’s trusty sidekick from the get-go, serving as the perfect tool to take on those pesky villagers, with a well-aimed shot to the noggin or limb.

Though it may not pack the most punch, it certainly does the trick for the early hours of the game, especially if you’re quick enough to follow up with a melee attack.

    Punisher

The Punisher is the second handgun you’ll find on your journey. You’ll need to purchase it from the Merchant with spinels, although it’s worth the investment.

Although the Punisher will cost you 5 spinels it’s an upgrade from the SG-O9 and capable of dealing some serious damage. It’s also capable of hitting multiple enemies with just one bullet. So, if you want to take out groups of enemies quickly and efficiently, the Punisher is the way to go.

    Red 9

You’ll need to go out of your way to retrieve the Red9, a handgun nestled in a chest at the centre of a half-sunken boat in Chapter 4. The boat is right in the middle of the lake and well worth investigating.

While this pistol boasts impressive accuracy, it may not be the best choice for taking down tougher foes due to its relatively low damage output. Instead, the Red9 is a reliable option for eliminating slower, weaker enemies that require precision shots to defeat.

    Blacktail

The Blacktail is the ultimate handgun that you can acquire from the Merchant for a whopping 24,000 pesetas from Chapter 7 onwards. It’s basically a souped-up version of the SG-O9 pistol, that you start with at the beginning of the game.

    Matilda

If you’re looking for a handgun that can handle a horde of enemies with ease, the Matilda is a burst-firing gun that will get the job done.

Although it may not be the most ammo-efficient weapon in your arsenal, its high rate of fire and decent damage make it a favourite among players. To get your hands on the Matilda, you’ll need to visit the Merchant from Chapter 8 and be prepared to part with 10 spinels.

    Sentinel Nine

The Sentinel Nine is a highly accurate and versatile weapon but the catch is that it’s only available if you buy the Deluxe Edition of the Resident Evil 4 remake.

All the shotguns in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    W-870

The game’s first shotgun is available for purchase from the Merchant, starting in Chapter 2. Alternatively, it can be found on the wall of the house located to the left of the tower in the Village Square, on the second floor.

It’s an effective weapon for close range, capable of taking out multiple enemies at once and vital to surviving the village siege at the beginning of the game.

    Riot Gun

The Riot Gun is the perfect weapon to keep enemies at bay and it’s a major upgrade from the W-870 shotgun. It can be purchased from the Merchant for 28,000 pesetas from Chapter 6 onwards.

    Striker

If you’re looking for a shotgun that can take down multiple enemies in one shot, the Striker is the perfect weapon for those who like to get up close and personal. But beware, as it comes with a hefty price tag of 38,000 pesetas and can only be purchased from the Merchant, starting from Chapter 10.

    Skull Shaker

The Skull Shaker is a lever-action shotgun, possessing immense power and able to take out lesser enemies in one shot. Like the Sentinel Nine, you can only acquire it by purchasing the Deluxe Edition of the Resident Evil 4 remake.

All the rifles in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    SR M1903

After retrieving Leon’s gear in Chapter 2, you have the opportunity to procure the SR M1903 bolt-action rifle from the Merchant for a sum of 12,000 pesetas. This rifle boasts exceptional accuracy and stopping power, rendering it an optimal choice for shooting down enemies from a distance.

    Stingray

There’s another rifle you can get in the Resident Evil 4 remake called the Stingray. It’s a semi-automatic rifle that can deal some serious damage and it can be a great primary weapon for the rest of the game. You buy it from the Merchant in Chapter 7 for 30,000 pesetas.

    CQBR Assault Rifle

The CQBR Assault Rifle is a precise firearm that offers substantial ammunition capacity and firepower. To obtain it, you must either purchase it from the Merchant for 28,000 pesetas or uncover it in the Castle in Chapter 11, concealed in the locked box on the upper floor of the southern library.

All the SMGs in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    TMP

The Resident Evil 4 remake introduces the TMP as its standard sub-machinegun, which excels in generating high damage output. Although it lacks precision, this weapon can unleash a substantial amount of damage in a brief period. You can acquire the TMP by purchasing it from the Merchant for 10,000 pesetas from Chapter 3 onwards.

It’s one of the best weapons in the game (pic: Capcom)

    LE 5

The LE 5 submachine gun is considered to be one of the best weapons in Resident Evil 4. It can be obtained in Chapter 13 by successfully solving the Electronic Lock Terminal puzzle to gain access to the Freezer, and here’s how you can do that.

    Chicago Sweeper

To acquire the Chicago Sweeper, also known as the Tommy Gun, you must complete the main storyline on professional difficulty with an A rank or higher. After fulfilling these criteria, the weapon can be unlocked in the Extra Content Shop, ready to unleash its rapid-fire capabilities.

All the magnums in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    Broken Butterfly

The Broken Butterfly is a very powerful magnum revolver that can take out enemies with just one shot, particularly if you aim for the head. This firearm can be purchased from the Merchant for 28,000 pesetas once you reach the castle in Chapter 7, enabling you to wield its crushing power against foes.

    Killer7

Another magnum you will discover during your Resident Evil 4 remake journey is the Killer7, which boasts higher ammo capacity and damage than its predecessor. While this firearm can be purchased from the Merchant in Chapter 13, for a hefty 77,000 pesetas, if you exercise patience and wait until Chapter 15 you can snag it at a discounted price.

You need to work hard if you want to get your hands on the Handcannon (pic: Capcom)

    Handcannon

The Handcannon is yet another fierce magnum which can be obtained from the Extra Content Shop once you have completed the game’s main storyline on professional difficulty with an A Rank or higher.

All the knives in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    Combat Knife

At the beginning of the game, you will receive the Combat Knife, which can be used like any other knife in the game. This versatile tool can also be upgraded and repaired, making it a useful and reliable weapon throughout the game.

    Kitchen Knife

You may come across the Kitchen Knife as loot scattered throughout the game’s map. It is a simpler version of the Combat Knife with lower durability, it still has the ability to parry attacks and serve as a useful tool. However, once the Kitchen Knife breaks, it will be lost for good.

    Primal Knife

The Primal Knife can be purchased through the Extra Content Shop after destroying all 16 Clockwork Castellans.

    Boot Knife

Although the Boot Knife is more powerful than the Kitchen Knife, it will still be destroyed once its durability runs out and cannot be repaired.

    Fighting Knife

To obtain the Fighting Knife, you must defeat the Chapter 14 boss, after which you will receive an upgrade to your Combat Knife. The Fighting Knife is more powerful and can also be repaired.

All the grenades in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    Hand Grenade

Simple hand grenades can be obtained as loot at various locations in the game. You rarely run out and they’re always useful to use against a group.

    Flash Grenade

You’re sure to come across Flash Grenades while looting in the Resident Evil 4 remake. These handy tools are perfect for diverting enemies and allowing for quick melee attacks. If you’re being outnumbered, toss one in the mix and make a swift escape. Plus, if you use it correctly, you can instantly kill the plagas creatures.

    Heavy Grenade

The Heavy Grenade is an enhanced version of the Hand Grenade, packing a more explosive punch that inflicts greater damage across a wider area. These grenades are particularly useful against enemy groups and bosses,, although naturally they’re rarer than the standard types.

All the special weapons in the Resident Evil 4 remake and how to get them

    Bolt Thrower

The Bolt Thrower is a suitable choice for those who prefer to take a stealthy approach in the game. It may not be the flashiest weapon, but it gets the job done.

Attaching mines to the projectiles can result in an explosion, and used bolts can be retrieved for reuse. In Chapter 2, the Merchant sells the Bolt Thrower for 10,000 pesetas.

    Kaboom! (pic: Capcom)

    Rocket Launcher

As expected, the Rocket Launcher is a devastating weapon that inflicts massive damage in a wide radius. It’s ideal for taking out hordes of enemies and especially useful against bosses, although it takes up significant inventory space and many consider it to be almost cheating. You can buy this weapon from the Merchant in Chapter 4 for 80,000 pesetas.
