Croatia – the 2018 World Cup runners-up – were held to a goalless draw against Morocco at Al Bayt Stadium – the first game of Day 4 at the Qatar World Cup.
Croatia met France in the final during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Only four players from that Croatia team started this game and the team lacked an attacking spark throughout. The closest they came was a toe-poke effort from Nikola Vlasic.
Morocco were an impressive, well drilled side but failed to create clear-cut opportunities.
Croatia dominated possession but were still unable to create chances or break down Morocco – who have only lost two of their past 40 games across three years.
The games was mostly played in the middle third of the pitch. The goalless draw is the third of this World Cup.
Croatia are ranked 12th in Fifa’s world rankings, whilst Morocco are ranked 22nd.
The teams are in Group F – which also has Canada and Belgium who face each other at 19:00 GMT on Wednesday.
Croatia take on Canada on Sunday at 16:00, while Morocco face Belgium at 13:00 on Sunday.
