France are the 2018 World Cup champions and are ranked fourth in the world, just one place ahead of England.
Didier Deschamps’ side have gone one better than their last major tournament – the Euros – where they lost to Switzerland on penalties in the last 16.
France’s biggest threat is Kylian Mbappe – who leads the race for the Golden Boot with five goals so far, two more than any other player.
Have England and France met before?
This is the first meeting of England and France in a knockout round of a men’s major tournament.
But England and France have played each other plenty of times – 31 to be exact, with England winning 17 to France’s nine.

Who will England play if they beat France?
If England beat France and make it to the semi-finals they could possibly face Morocco, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
Morocco will play Spain and Portugal face Switzerland on 6 December.
If they make it, England’s semi-final will take place on Wednesday, 14 December, with a 19:00 kick-off.
The final will take place at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on 18 December. Potential opponents include Argentina and Brazil, who are on the opposite side of the draw.
