Qatar World Cup 2022: England 3-0 Iran – half time review
We’re halfway through the first half of the opening games for both England and Iran and the Three Lions are up 3 goals – thanks to wonder kid Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and England favourite Raheem Sterling.
The game has, so far, been heavily dominated by England – who’s had roughly 80 per cent of possession and over seven shots – four on target.
The first half saw a massive 14 minutes added on following a nasty collision between an Iran player and his goalkeeper. The Iranian goalie is eventually being substituted.
The injury to the keeper meant the first half was somewhat stalled and a little broken up but all in all a perfect start for England, who were able to get right back into the game and keep control.
Iran did manage to get a shot in, perhaps a reminder for England to stay focused – it’s not over until that final whistle.
All three England goals were superb – with assists going from Harry Kane, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire.
