Prince Harry calls for respect towards NATO troops after Donald Trump’s comments, reflecting a broader tension between military service and political rhetoric.
In a recent statement, Harry underscored the sacrifices made by servicemen and women, responding to remarks made by the former US President.
The focus of Harry’s remarks comes in the wake of Trump’s comments that implied NATO allies, during military engagements, had avoided frontline action. Critics and common sense argue such statements undermine the bravery and commitment of troops involved in real combat situations.
Trump’s Nato comments
The Only country to invoke article 5 on the NATO agreement is the United States, and the UK answered that call, to our detriment.
Tony Blair Former UK PM
Harry’s comments added weight to ongoing debates about the portrayal of military service in political discourse. In a heartfelt message, he declared, “Every opportunity we have to do better for each other is a chance for growth,” highlighting the need for respect and acknowledgement of those who serve.
Trump doesn’t respect Britain
The statements were made during an event in London, where Harry participated in discussions about veterans’ well-being and the importance of mental health among ex-servicemen. His advocacy underscores a commitment to uplift the voices of those who have served.
Commenting on the issue, Sir Keir Starmer expressed strong disapproval of Trump’s comments, labelling them as “insulting” to the memory and sacrifices of NATO troops. He stated, “Such remarks cannot go unchallenged; they disrespect our veterans and their families.”
We need to distance ourselves from the USA
It is clear, the United States, especially Trump do not see the UK as anything other than a client market. Demanding loyalty and subservience, and in his eyes we are behind the oil states, the only thing they can exploit n the UK is the people, which is exactly what they are doing.
The UK lost 463 soldiers in the Afghan war, with almost 30 dying from American friendly fire.
To emphasise our position here’s 5 things we have had to do for the US, just to remain friends:
- Allow American Beef 13,000 metric tonnes tariff-free
- Drop the 20% tariff
- Increase NATO spending which basically means we need to spend 5% of UK GDP with American companies arms companies
- In 2024 $4 billion in US food exports will arrive to the UK (projected) 300% increase from 2022.
- Leave the EU common market, to isolate the UK, making it more dependent on the US and weakening the EU, America’s biggest economic threat.
And it makes sense, Trump knows, all he needs to do is inflate Nigel Farage’s position and he can take over London. As Farage’s largest financiers come from California, not Clacton. (btw have you noticed how quiet he has been … Hmmm!)
And now, they expect us to support Greenland; the potential for further political fallout looms, and as a slap in the face he disrespected our military personnel. Veterans’ rights and recognition continue to gain attention, Prince Harry’s words may inspire a renewed push for accountability in political narratives but hopefully it will land in the White House pressroom, and signal to Trump; either fix up or we’ll hang you out to dry, like the scene in Love Actually.
