A heavily pregnant woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death shortly after their baby shower in a fight over who would use the microwave.
Keshia Golden, 33, and her boyfriend Calvin Sidney, 29, got into an argument about using the microwave in their apartment around 3am after getting back from their celebration the night before, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Golden, eight months pregnant at the time, knocked down a plate that Sidney had in his hands, officials said. Sidney in turn shoved Golden on the counter, as his uncle tried to separate the couple.
Sidney then angrily went to a bedroom, where Golden allegedly used a knife to stab him in the leg. Golden dropped the weapon and left the apartment, prosecutors said.

The slashing reached Sidney’s femoral artery and he was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died.
Golden got back home a few hours later, not knowing that Sidney had died.
‘She didn’t mean to kill anyone,’ Golden’s mother Tarsha Ellis told the Sun-Times.
‘She’s broke up about it. She didn’t know you could kill someone by stabbing them in the leg.

‘She just wanted him to leave because he was acting out, and she was worried about hurting the baby. And he wouldn’t go.’
The couple’s relationship was ‘toxic’, Ellis continued.
‘But they loved each other,’ the mother said. ‘If he could raise up right now, they wouldn’t have no case because he would never want charges against her.’
Golden was arrested on October 23 and has been charged with first-degree murder. Her bail was set at $2million, which would require a $200,000 bond for release.
Golden’s lawyer Julie Koehler said her client spent four days at a hospital to be treated for injuries in the fight with Sidney.
‘To not only force Keshia to give birth in jail but then to immediately take her child away after birth is cruel to the mother and the baby,’ Koehler told the newspaper.
‘This heartless decision is contrary to Illinois law. All the evidence shows Keshia acted in self-defense. The only person she’s ever shown any violence toward was the man that was beating her.’
Police responded to five domestic violence calls at the couple’s apartment from June to September. Golden claimed in four of those instances that Sidney pushed, slapped, punched or choked her.
