‘I will close loophole allowing seafarers to be paid less than MW’ – PM 

PM answers Starmer’s request to fix the gap in the law that allows some seafarers to be paid less than minimum wage. PM said he would close the loophole and ensure everyone working in the UK economic zone is paid the living wage.

Starmer asks: Can the PM say these companies will not get any more taxpayers’ money until they reinstate the workers?

PM says the government is taking legal action. But if Labour is asking the government to “pitchfork away investment”, which is what it usually wants, the government won’t. That would be wrong.

PM says it looks like P&O broke the law. He says government is taking action and cites two laws he believes the company broke and says the laws were passed by the Tory governments.

PMQs Live – what time is PMQs today? Boris Johnson Live – ahead of spring statement 

PM Boris Johnson will face Labour’s Keir Starmer for Prime Minister’s Questions today ahead of Rishi Sunak’s 2022 spring statement. 

The chancellor’s announcement will follow after PMQs – Sunak is under pressure to tackle the cost of living crisis after inflation hit 6.2 per cent. 

Other top topics set to dominate PMQs include the war in Ukraine and a Covid-19 anniversary.
