‘I will close loophole allowing seafarers to be paid less than MW’ – PM

PM answers Starmer’s request to fix the gap in the law that allows some seafarers to be paid less than minimum wage. PM said he would close the loophole and ensure everyone working in the UK economic zone is paid the living wage.

    ……………………

Starmer asks: Can the PM say these companies will not get any more taxpayers’ money until they reinstate the workers?

PM says the government is taking legal action. But if Labour is asking the government to “pitchfork away investment”, which is what it usually wants, the government won’t. That would be wrong.

    ……………………

Stamer says PM ripped up the rulebook to help Owen Patterson, but govt had advance notice of this but did nothing.

PM slams Starmer for ‘not listening to his first answer and says he learnt about the sackings on the day and the govt is taking action.

P&O sackings broke law – PM

Keir Starmer: if the PM can’t stop sacking of 800 employees then what’s the point of his government?

PM says it looks like P&O broke the law. He says government is taking action and cites two laws he believes the company broke and says the laws were passed by the Tory governments.

    ……………………

PM happy that 150,000 people have offered to house Ukrainian refugees.

    ……………………

At PMQs the first question is about the treatment of “child Q”. Boris Johnson says this was a deeply concerning incident and the Met are investigating.

    ……………………

You’ll be able to watch all the action via a live stream on this page.
