PM won’t say sorry after Starmer mobbed by angry protesters

PM Boris Johnson won’t say sorry after Labour leader Keir Starmer mobbed by angry protesters

A senior source has told the BBC that No 10 has no plans of apologising for the prime minister’s false claim that Sir Keir Starmer failed to prosecute Jimmy Savile – despite the Labour leader being targetted by an angry mob of protesters near Parliament.

The source told the BBC: “He’s got other stuff to get on with today.”

PM Boris Johnson – tweeted his condemnation of the harassment – but faces fresh calls from Tory MPs to apologise and retract the false claims he made after the mob were heard shouting the sex offenders name at the Labour leader.

In his tweet, he said the behaviour Starmer was subjected to was “absolutely disgraceful” and “completely unacceptable.”

The behaviour directed at the Leader of the Opposition tonight is absolutely disgraceful. All forms of harassment of our elected representatives are completely unacceptable.

I thank the police for responding swiftly.

    — Boris Johnson (@BorisJohnson) February 7, 2022

But a No 10 source said it was unreasonable to suggest what happened on Monday “was Boris’s fault and not the mob’s fault.”

But at least seven Tory MPs have publicly linked the harassment of Starmer with the PM’s incorrect comment – and demand he apologises.

Keir Starmer Covid measures support – The mob attacks!

Videos floating around on social media show the Labour leader being escorted into a police car on Victoria Embankment just after 17:00 GMT.

The protesters were heard shouting “traitor” – for the Labour leaders support of Covid-19 vaccinations and not “opposing the government” or protecting the working man.

Protesters were heard shouting about attacks on journalists, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and shouted suggestions about protecting paedophiles, naming Savile.
