Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price quits after damning report
Adam Price has resigned as leader of Plaid Cymru after a report revealed a culture of misogyny, harassment, and bullying within the party. The party announced that a new leader will be in place by summer. The decision comes after a series of difficulties, including allegations of sexual assault and a toxic working environment. In his resignation letter, Price cited a lack of united support from his colleagues as the reason for his departure.
Plaid’s Westminster leader, Liz Saville Roberts, stated that Price’s resignation was necessary to address the party’s toxic culture and implement the recommendations of the report. She emphasised the need for stability and a collective approach to bring about the required cultural change. The party’s Senedd group will meet to establish arrangements for an interim leader. Plaid Cymru is the third largest party in the Welsh Parliament and has a cooperation agreement with the Welsh Labour government.
