Marcus Rashford was axed for Manchester United’s trip to Wolves due to a ‘disciplinary issue’ (PA)
Paul Scholes believes Marcus Rashford is ‘jeopardising his own form’ after he was dropped by Erik ten Hag for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Wolves due to a ‘internal disciplinary issue’.
Rashford scored the opener in United’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and was expected to keep his place in the team for his side’s trip to Wolves on Saturday.
But Ten Hag confirmed before kick off that Rashford was named as a substitute as punishment for a disciplinary problem.
‘He’s jeopardising his own form, really,’ Scholes said of Rashford after United’s team was announced.
‘Being stupid or whatever he’s done is wrong, the manager has seen it and he comes out of the team.

‘But when the lad’s in such form, he’s been so happy this season, you think of the last 18 months where he’s looked miserable and he hasn’t performed.
‘Now could this jeopardise him going forward? I hope not, he looks a bit miserable there [during the warm up], he will do because he’s not playing. I hope it doesn’t jeopardise the next six months of the season.’

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has backed Ten Hag’s decision to maintain discipline in his United squad.
‘Per 90 minutes this has been his [Rashford’s] best return for goals and assists in his Man United career, it’s disappointing,’ said Ferdinand.
‘You come here as a fan and you want to see your best players playing, he’s in form, he’s one of the best players, one of the first names on the team sheet at this moment in time, so it’s very disappointing to see.
‘But on the same note, you’re pleased that the manager is keeping to form in that if there are things going on behind the scenes that he’s not happy with, people get disciplined.’
