Pat McAfee is back (Picture: WWE)
Pat McAfee made a triumphant return at the WWE Royal Rumble four months after stepping back from his SmackDown duties in early September.
The blue brand commentator and former NFL star had taken a hiatus to cover football for ESPN’s College GameDay which meant he couldn’t keep his wrestling commitments every Friday night.
However, he returned to the announce desk on Saturday night to the delight of his SmackDown co-star and friend Michael Cole, while Raw’s Corey Graves reacted with utter dismay.
The crowd went wild, and McAfee – who joked he had lied to Cole’s face every time they’d spoken recently about his comeback – joined the duo to call the action for tonight’s show.
The action got underway with the Men’s Royal Rumble, with GUNTHER and Sheamus reigniting their hard hitting rivalry as the number one and two entrants.
