Parthenon marbles row: Greece’s prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision made by his British counterpart, Rishi Sunak, to cancel the planned talks.
The discussions were intended to address the matter of the Parthenon marbles, and tensions over the ancient artifacts have flared up once again.
Describing Sunak’s action as “wrong and undignified,” aides criticized the abrupt cancellation of the Downing Street meeting. Mitsotakis, who is currently in London, conveyed his irritation at the eleventh-hour cancellation of the scheduled meeting.
