Friday’s front pages focus on the government’s decision to scrap the HS2 line to Leeds with many left feeling like the north has been betrayed. 

The Daily Mirror leads on the news the prime minister has scrapped the Birmingham to Leeds section of HS2 – despite a pledge in his 2019 manifesto to build it in full being repeated 60 times.
