Several of Wednesday’s front pages pick up on comments by Home Secretary Priti Patel about the case of the Liverpool taxi bomber, who is believed to have had an asylum application turned down in 2014. 

The PM is facing a backbench revolt when MPs vote on his attempt to ban them from having second jobs is another story dominating the front pages. 

Most of the front pages feature a picture of Azeem Rafiq as he gave his testimony to MPs over the racism and bullying he faced whilst playing professional cricket. 

The Daily Express is one of several papers to highlight comments by Home Secretary Priti Patel about the case of the Liverpool taxi bomber, who is believed to have had an asylum application turned down in 2014.

The Sun reports that England ace Jack Grealish was last night given an ultimatum by his girlfriend over TV star Emily Atack: “It’s me or her.”

Home Secretary Priti Patel has criticised the UK’s “dysfunctional” asylum system and “merry-go-round” appeals process which allowed the Liverpool hospital bomber, Emad al Swealmeen, to remain in the country, according to the Daily Express

The Guardian reports on how Michael Gove has been drawn into the ‘cronyism’ row after claims a Conservative party donor who supported his leadership campaign was awarded £164m in government COVID contracts. 

The Metro leads on how cricket whistleblower Azeem Rafiq broke down in tears as he revealed his “inhuman” treatment in an emotional testimony to MPs. 

The Daily Mirror’s main story reports allegations that Prince Andrew had a £1.5m loan paid off by a banker friend, who is also a Tory donor.

“Boris Johnson bows to pressure over MPs’ second jobs” is the headline for the Independent. The paper says the PM is being accused of ‘knee jerk’ bid to rewrite sleaze rules.
