Teenage Afghan who feared UK would deport him killed himself

The Metro says a teenage asylum seeker who feared the Home Office would deport him to Afghanistan killed himself, a coroner has concluded.

The 19-year-old, who has not been named publicly, is thought to have been a victim of modern slavery as he was working in a pizza shop without payment before he was found dead in the garden of his accommodation in April.

An inquest in Birmingham, where he had been living, heard he arrived in the UK as an unaccompanied 13-year-old after fleeing persecution in his homeland.
