Pen Farthing: Ex-Marine pleads directly with Taliban to let him and his animals into Kabul airport

The i says a former Royal Marine has pleaded with the Taliban directly to allow himself and his animals safe passage into Kabul airport following intervention by senior UK politicians.

Paul Farthing, known as Pen, said he has been stuck outside Hamid Karzai International Airport for the last 10 hours with his animals.

Mr Farthing, who set up an animal shelter in Kabul, was embroiled in a row with Defence Secretary Ben Wallace after he claimed the minister blocked his plan to evacuate 200 rescue animals and 69 of his staff and their families from Afghanistan.
