It’s nearly time to link arms and sing about old acquaintances as we welcome in 2023 with lots of hope and cheer.
Whether you’re planning to go out for New Year’s Eve, have friends round for a party or a quiet night on the couch with some good TV, there’s every chance you’ll need to go out and stock up on supplies, from the bubbly to topping up the snack drawer.
Here’s when supermarket favourites Aldi, Lidl and Iceland will be open over the New Year…
When is Aldi open over New Year?
Aldi will be open on New Year’s Eve – perfect for any last minute champagne runs or other bits to see out 2022 in style.
However, most stores will close earlier than usual.

You can expect most Aldi locations will open between 8am and 6pm on December 31.
But it’s always best to check online before heading out, as some opening hours may vary by location.
On New Year’s Day (January 1, 2023) Aldi stores will be closed.
Stores will open again at 8am on Monday, January 2.
When is Lidl open over the New Year?
Most Lidl stores will be open on New Year’s Eve, but, like Aldi, expect them to close earlier.

From a quick check using their online store locator, it appears most stores will be open between 8am and 7pm.
It’s always worth checking the specific opening times for your local stores, though.
On New Year’s Day, Lidl stores will be closed.
Reopening on January 2, stores will be open between 8am and 8pm, before returning to their usual trading hours from January 3.
When is Iceland open over the New Year?
From delicious desserts to good savings on fizzy drinks and booze, Iceland is always a good destination for a savvy shopper.

Here are the opening hours for most stores over the New Year period:
New Year’s Eve – 8am-5pm
New Year’s Day – closed
Monday, January 2 – 9am-6pm
Opening times are subject to change by location, though, so check online for your local store’s opening hours.
