Netflix has confirmed the release date for Heartstopper season 2 – and we’re screaming with excitement.
The young adult series broke streaming records when it dropped last year, gaining a fanbase of millions and catapulting young stars to global fame.
Starring Kit Connor as rugby boy Nick Nelson and Joe Locke as shy boy Charlie Spring, the series follows the pair’s romantic relationship while studying at an all-boys grammar school.
However, they have no choice but to keep things on the down low, given that Charlie is being bullied and Nick has not yet come out.
Also starring Yasmin Finney and William Gao, the series really does pull on the heartstrings, and was thankfully renewed for two more seasons after the success of the first.
While fans have been begging the streaming giant for a release date for months, they need wait no more – because Heartstopper season 2 is coming on August 3!

Taking to Twitter to delight fans with the announcement, Netflix wrote: ‘We can finally tell you…Heartstopper Season 2 comes to Netflix 3 August!!!’, followed by a bunch of leaf emoji, which have become synonymous with the show.
They also shared a video, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming episodes, as the cast teased what’s to come for their characters.
‘There’s more going on, I’d say,’ teases Corinna Brown, who plays Tara Jones.
‘We might expect Imogen to start taking care of herself a bit more and put herself above boys,’ adds actress Rhea Norwood.
‘There are so many things that happen with Elle this season that you’re not ready for,’ adds Doctor Who star Yasmin, filling us all with suspense.

‘I would say Elle is different in that she’s more confident. She surrounds herself with people that elevate her.’
Lead star Kit promises ‘amazing’ scripts from Alice Oseman, the creator of the original Heartstopper graphic novels.
‘It also feels cool and fresh. A different vibe to season one,’ he shares.
Fellow lead actor Joe adds that his character goes on a ‘journey’ this time.
‘His story’s a bit more mature,’ he assures.
The video also shows cast members larking around on set, as well as a few sneaky previews of new characters.
Reacting to the announcement they’d all been waiting for, fans could hardly find the words to express their joy.
‘OH MY GOD. I COULD SOB. THAT’S NOT THAT FAR AWAY. AHHHHHH’, one replied.
‘i’m actually SCREAMING’, declared another.

In a second tweet, Netflix gave us a bit more info.
‘In Heartstopper Season 2… Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges; Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. Plus there’s exams, a school trip to Paris, and prom!’
Honestly, we cannot wait.
Heartstopper season 1 is available to stream on Netflix and season 2 lands on August 3.
