Aid drops not the solution to ‘very critical’ humanitarian situation in Gaza, Palestinian NGO Network says
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is “very critical” and aid drops are not the solution, the director of the Palestinian NGO Network has said.
Speaking to our presenter Darren McCaffrey, Amjad al-Shawa said the health system in Gaza is collapsing “day by day”.
“I think the air drops are not the solution, it’s small quantities of aid,” he said.
“There are risks, yesterday there was a man who was killed because one of the boxes was dropped over his dead.
“Gaza is overpopulated, there are 50,000 people over 1km, there is no space to have these aid drops.”
Turning to Benjamin Netanyahu’s reported plan to occupy the whole of Gaza, al-Shawa described it as “horrible news”.
“To hear about it not going to a ceasefire, to going to more suffocation for the people of Gaza, this is really bad,” he added.
