Doctor Who has shared the first images of Ncuti Gatwa as the Time Lord and Millie Gibson as his assistant.
The Sex Education actor will be the fifteenth doctor to take over control of the Tardis in Russell T Davies’ sci-fi drama, while Millie, 18, will play his companion, Ruby Sunday.
While fans were given a glimpse of the Barbie star, 30, playing the iconic role in a trailer at the end of Jodie Whittaker’s final episode, there have been no other insights into the character – until now.
In the first official pictures, published by the BBC, Ncuti is seen looking very dapper and stylish in a neon orange T-shirt and brown tweed suit.
Meanwhile, Coronation Street actor Millie is sporting a shearling denim jacket, patterned tee and ocean blue trousers.
The pair have already begun production on the juggernaut series with a tweet from the Doctor Who account tweeting: ‘Action! Filming has officially begun today for the next series of #DoctorWho.’

Millie also shared a snap of a bouquet of flowers she’d received on her first day and captioned the post: ‘First day… officially a Cardiff resident.’
Actors including Neil Patrick Harris and Yasmin Finney will also join the cast, with it recently being reported that the BBC is hoping to enlist Phoebe Waller-Bridge as part of the writing team, after a huge deal between the BBC and Disney+.
Russell said of the new era: ‘If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way!

Jodie Whittaker faced her final battles as the time lord in October in a special episode of Doctor Who to mark the BBC’s centenary.
The actress, 40, became the first woman to portray the Doctor when she took over the role from Peter Capaldi in 2017.
During the feature-length programme, viewers were left surprised as Whittaker’s 13th Time Lord regenerated into David Tennant, who previously played the 10th incarnation of the Doctor.

Following the special, it was confirmed David, 51, will become the 14th incarnation, with Catherine Tate reprising her role as his former companion Donna Noble for three special episodes set to air in November 2023.
