A mum has hit out at a new park slide branded a ‘child scorcher’ and a ‘waste of money’.
Michelle Menzies from Norwich, Norfolk, says the slide at Bowers Park became too hot to handle in recent hot weather.
The 37-year-old claims the site needs improved, despite the city council recently spending £50,000 to spruce up the park.
Michelle told Norwich Evening News: ‘When you go to put your hand on the slide it’s just too hot, and the weather hasn’t even been that hot yet.
‘It scorched my child when they went down it. I even burned my hand a couple of weeks ago when I touched it. Someone will get hurt if it carries on.
‘They’ve got nothing out of £50,000 it’s a massive waste, the park still looks horrible, it’s just not a nice place to take your children.’

The park closed in June 2021 following vandalism and the council confirmed they could not afford to sort it out.
But a month later it had reopened following some post-lockdown investment.
Michelle says littering and older children reportedly smoking weed nearby has also become a problem for parents.
The angry mum is calling upon Norwich City Council to take more action.
She added: ‘I wish they’d have just asked us what we wanted.
‘They should’ve had a zip wire or a climbing wall as that would appeal to a wider age range. It’s almost like because we’ve been complaining for a while the council have given us the metal slide to spite us.’
Norwich City Council has been contacted for comment.
Last summer a mum said her local play park is unsafe for her daughter because of dog poo and litter.
