Escaping the country’s worsening cost of living crisis and the political turmoil has never been more tempting.
EasyJet Holidays’ ‘escape the UK’ 28-day offer for a Red Sea resort near Hurghada claims to save people hundreds of pounds on their energy bills.
This all-inclusive package might sound a little too good to be true – and certainly, we are not trying to advertise it.
But it begs a question why it may be more financially viable to holiday abroad than to fight for survival in the UK.
At £650 per person, the airline’s price is £227 cheaper than the £877 average cost of household bills per person over the same period, the advert says.

If you own your home and able to work remotely, renting it out could even make you money this looming winter that has also teased us with daily blackouts.
After reviewing the cost comparison, personal finance expert and money blogger Lynn Beattie said: ‘The data collected in this study is incredibly insightful showing just how much the average household in the UK will spend on the most basic of living expenses.
‘While escaping abroad does not make all our financial commitments disappear, it’s startling to know that like for like, it is cheaper to buy an all-inclusive holiday than stay in the UK this winter.’
News of the deal, which goes on sale today, comes as research shows half of Brits are considering a winter holiday to avoid higher heating bills.
And some 47% – rising to 70% of young people – say they would consider leaving the country permanently to escape rising costs of living.
