A mother allegedly drove her car over a 15-year-old boy twice as revenge for the victim apparently bullying and robbing her son.
Jennifer Nelson, 35, drove her car into a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot across the street from William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, Long Island, and confronted a few teenagers with a knife and a bat, prosecutors said.
A 15-year-old boy walked away to the Manhattan Bagel shop parking lot and was followed by Nelson in her car. The mother hit him and knocked him over, then ‘proceeded to drive over the victim, up onto a curb, reversed, drove over the victim again’, according to an affidavit obtained by the New York Post.
The boy sustained ‘numerous bruises and abrasions’, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. He also had a punctured lung and fractures to his ribs and pelvis.

Nelson ‘allegedly thought she could take the law into her own hands to kill a 15-year-old in the process’, stated Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney on Monday.
‘This defendant’s incredibly misguided attempt to avenge the alleged victimization of her own child is no excuse.
‘Citizens cannot take the law into their own hands, and should instead work with law enforcement and my office to seek justice in every case.’
Nelson tried to trade in the 2020 Honda Passport she had been leasing for a different model to prevent cops from catching her, according to prosecutors.

She has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and leaving an accident scene that resulted in serious physical injury, for the October 7 incident.
But Nelson’s lawyer Paul D’Emilia said prosecutors ‘attempted to conflate two separate events that day as one continuous occurrence’.
‘Ms Nelson received a frantic telephone call from her son who was, once again, being bullied and physically assaulted in the parking lot outside William Floyd High School, D’Emilia told the Post. ‘She found him shoeless and surrounded by tormentors when she drove up a few minutes later.’
D’Emilia added that a group of boys were running on the streets and that ‘one of the young men received injuries after striking Ms Nelson’s car’.

Nelson ‘did not recognize the young man who was injured’ and the victim ‘ran off after the incident’, her lawyer said.
Two teenagers were arrested for allegedly robbing Nelson’s son, but the 15-year-old boy was not one of them, according to authorities.
Nelson is being held on a $1million bond or $250,000 cash bail. Her next court date is March 21.
