Megan Thee Stallion is heading to trial after filing a lawsuit against her record label, it has been claimed.
The WAP rapper – real name Megan Pete – previously took legal action against 1501 Certified Entertainment, accusing label bosses of trying to keep her tied to her contract.
In August, it was revealed that the 27-year-old was suing her record label for $1million in damages, after releasing what she believed to be her final album in her contract.
However, 1501 Certified Entertainment insisted that her Something For Thee Hotties compilation, released in 2021, does not constitute an album.
They claimed that she has yet to complete the terms of her contract with the company – something the musician’s lawyers argued against.
According to Rolling Stone, her response filing read: ‘Pete should be allowed her day in court to present evidence and testimony to the jury demonstrating that she has done all that was required of her in the delivery and release of her albums.’

They also argued that, despite some of the aspects of the album previously appearing on YouTube, they were never available in a format that was commercially distributed to the public for sale.
‘If there is any ambiguity around the term “previously-unreleased,” it should be reserved as a question of fact for the jury,’ they added.
A judge has now denied 1501’s motion for Something For These Hotties to be declared something other than an album, and ruled that the case should proceed to trial.

The court date has yet to be confirmed.
Last month, Megan was granted a restraining order against 1501 and her distributor, 300 Entertainment – amid allegations that her music had been blocked from being used at the American Music Awards.

She was was reportedly approached by ABC to use her song, Her, during the show.
However, she was later informed that 1501 had allegedly objected to the use of the song, a move that her legal team argued would ‘negatively impact [her] as an artist’.
