After stuffing yourself full of turkey over the last week, you might be looking for something rather different to eat as you ring in 2024, like say, a Big Mac?

Cheese dippers, fries and McNuggets from McDonald’s might be the perfect way to round off your New Year’s celebrations, or perhaps you’d prefer to wake up with a Sausage and Egg McMuffin the next day after a night of drinking?

Many of the fast food chain’s branches were open over the festive period so fans could get their fix, with reduced hours in some areas and closures for some on Christmas Day.

But will the same be true of the 31st December and 1st January? Let’s take a look…

Is McDonald’s open on New Year’s Eve?

McDonald’s branches up and down the country will be open on New Year’s Eve but some will be operating on a reduced schedule, opening later and closing earlier than usual.

Others will be open for longer hours with some remaining open for up to 24 hours, but it all depends on where you are in the country and where your nearest branch is.

For instance, McDonald’s restaurants that are inside shopping centres and supermarkets will most likely close earlier on New Year’s Eve as the shops will all be shutting earlier.

To find out the exact New Year’s Eve opening hours of your nearest branch, you can use the store locator tool on their website – or you can check on the McDonald’s app.

Is McDonald’s open on New Year’s Day?

Once again the majority of McDonald’s branches will be open for business on New Year’s Day, with some restaurants opening as early as 7 or 8am.

However, others may not open their doors until 11am or even as late as 12pm in some cases.

Closing times will also differ from one branch to the next as every franchise is different.

A handful of branches will be closed all day on January 1 – so you’ll need to use the store locator to see the exact New Year hours of your local Maccies.

And just a few days into the New Year, on January 4, McDonald’s fans will be in for a treat as the restaurant is launching a new menu.

Five new items will be added, including the Steakhouse Stack, which Maccies customers previously dubbed the ‘best burger they’ve ever produced’.

The burger, which was first introduced in March this year, will cost £5.49 and once again features two British and Irish beef patties, a slice of cheese, crispy onions, red onions, lettuce, and black peppercorn sauce in a toasted glazed sesame topped bun.

As well as this, the other items back on the menu from January 4 include the Fajita Chicken Wrap (£3.69), Cheesy Garlic Bites (£2.59), Cadbury Dairy Milk McFlurry and Cadbury Caramel McFlurry (£1.99 for full size and £1.49 for mini).

And that’s not all, in addition to these new itens, McDonald’s will also be offering Saver Meal Deals in the New Year, with three options all available for less than £5.

These deals will be available in UK and Ireland restaurants from 11am, but not on delivery.

It’s not clear yet how long the new menu will be available for, but typically these drops only last a few weeks, so you’d better be speedy if you want to try them.
