Mauricio Pochettino has been told that three Chelsea players are ‘better options’ than wantaway striker Romelu Lukaku.
Pochettino wants to talk to Lukaku to discuss his future at Chelsea but the Belgian is yet to return to Stamford Bridge following his season-long loan at Inter Milan.
Lukaku wants to secure a permanent move to Milan this summer but the Serie A giants are struggling to agree a fee with Chelsea.
Despite Lukaku’s struggles in west London, Pochettino is said to be open-minded about his future at the club, especially as it looks unlikely that Chelsea will sign a new No. 9 this summer.
But ex-Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes Pochettino already has three players at Stamford Bridge who are ‘better options’ than Lukaku.
‘I would be really shocked if Romelu Lukaku stayed at Chelsea,’ he told OLBG. ‘If you look at all of the strikers Chelsea have now, they have better options.
‘[Christopher] Nkunku and [Nicolas] Jackson are young players who can play up front. They also have [Armando] Broja to come back and he is also a good player. That’s three players who are all good players.

‘If you look at Lukaku’s last three seasons in English football, he did not score enough goals at all. With the way the game is played now, there needs to be a player pressing from the front.
‘I just don’t think Lukaku fits that style of play anymore. The same thing happened with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
‘He is a great player, but should never have gone back to United, because he could not press from the front. I think the same goes for Lukaku at Chelsea.
‘All of the teams in the Premier League play a high-intensity style of football. Lukaku is not your man for that.’
Former Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham and Southampton boss Pochettino officially took over at Chelsea last week, joining a team that finished just 12th in the Premier League last season.
