Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been spotted training with team-mate Anthony Elanga as the club near a decision on the striker’s future.
Greenwood has been suspended since January 2022, when he was arrested following the release of images and video online from a female acquaintance.
Charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault were dropped against Greenwood earlier this year but he remains suspended by United as the club undertake an internal investigation.
That investigation is still ongoing, with United yet to confirm a decision on Greenwood’s future.
It’s believed there’s a difference in opinion across board level at Old Trafford, with some feeling the club owe Greenwood a duty of care given he’s an academy product and others feeling it would be commercial suicide to reintegate him.

One option is loaning Greenwood next season, and there’s interest from Italy in the form of Atalanta and Roma.
What is clear is that Greenwood is preparing to play football next season and he was snapped training alongside Elanga earlier this week.
Greenwood came through United’s academy with the Swede, and they remain friends off the field.
United are keen on signing a centre forward this summer but Erik ten Hag has a budget of just £120m to work with.
The Dutchman would like a player of Greenwood’s ability in his squad but he’s not getting involved in the investigation process.
