Fred is well aware of the challenge Manchester United will face against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, but says that if his team find top form, there is no reason why they cannot win.
Having retained their Premier League title and looking dominant in the Champions League ahead of the final against Inter Milan, Manchester City will be clear favourites to lift the FA Cup at Wembley.
The Red Devils are hoping to secure a top four finish on Thursday night when they play Chelsea, then focus will be on upsetting their local rivals to win their second trophy of the campaign.
Erik ten Hag’s side have already won the Carabao Cup and Fred believes they can add the 2023 FA Cup to their CVs, but he is well aware how big a task it will be against an immense City side and their prolific striker Erling Haaland.
‘From my point of view, Manchester City play the best football in the world at the moment. Under Pep Guardiola, an outstanding coach, they’ve won loads of titles with a very clear playing style,’ Fred told FourFourTwo.
‘They know how to maintain possession – it’s so tough to face them. But it’s not impossible. We lost when we played them away this season, but we beat them at home with Haaland on the pitch.
‘Yes, I agree that he’s the world’s best forward right now, but we’re Manchester United, and if we’re able to play our best football then I don’t see why we can’t win.’

United host Chelsea on Thursday night and just need a point to guarantee Champions League football next season with a game to spare in the Premier League.
Their final league game of the campaign is at Old Trafford against Fulham on Sunday before facing City at Wembley the following Saturday.
