Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have ‘made contact’ with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya over a deal, according to reports.
Raya has been a standout performer for Brentford this season, who are enjoying a fantastic 2022-23 campaign and are currently eighth in the Premier League table – above Chelsea and Liverpool – with the Bees pushing for European qualification.
The 27-year-old Spain international has made a total of 143 appearances since he arrived at Brentford in 2019 from Blackburn and helped Thomas Frank’s side clinch promotion to the top-flight after winning the 2021 Championship play-offs.
However, Raya’s current deal expires in 2024 and he has reportedly turned down several contract extensions – the latest of which he rejected last week.
United, Chelsea and Spurs have been keeping tabs on Raya and the three clubs have now ‘made contact’ with the player, according to new reports from Spain.
It is believed that Brentford would be willing to sell Raya in the summer if they cannot convince him to sign a new deal in order to maximise the best possible price for him.
United are keen to sign a goalkeeper with David de Gea having entered the final six months of his current deal – although they do have the option to extend it for a further season.
Tottenham and Chelsea also want to bring in a new ‘keeper with Spurs seeking a successor to their 36-year-old captain Hugo Lloris.
The Blues, meanwhile, want an upgrade on the underperforming Edouard Mendy and the inconsistent Kepa Arrizabalaga.
United and Spurs may be the more attractive destinations for Raya with Chelsea currently 10th in the Premier League – below Brentford – and 10 points off the top four.
