A man who pulled out a seven-inch kitchen knife and started silently slashing his date’s throat and genitalia during a sexual encounter has been jailed for 28 years.
Takeaway worker Abdul Malik, 29, tried to kill the screaming man as he begged him to stop after luring him back to his bedroom in Dymchurch, Kent.
The victim says the horrific experience ‘changed him as a person’, suffers flashbacks and has since ‘lost’ his career.
‘Remorseless’ Malik was expressionless listening to an account of his victim’s trauma, before a jury unanimously convicted him of attempted murder in October.
Jurors cleared Malik of allegations he raped and attempted to rape the man before he slit his throat.
There were no warning signs before he inflicted 12 knife wounds to the man’s body in the ‘frenzied’ attack on January 11, Canterbury Crown Court heard.
But Malik ‘suddenly stopped, removed the chair blocking the door and let his victim go’.
The blood-covered man ran past Malik’s housemates, who were gathered on the landing, and fell down a flight of stairs.

He managed to get to his vehicle and call 999, but then crashed into nearby railings.
Fearing for his life, he locked the doors of the vehicle and endured a 25-minute wait for paramedics and police.
He could have died if he hadn’t escaped and received urgent medical treatment, the trial was told.
The brave victim recalled the attack for the trial, telling jurors the blade against his throat felt like ‘barbed wire’.
‘At that stage I was aware I was going to be killed in that room – he proceeded to stab my abdomen’, he said. ‘I was screaming for help, begging for him to stop, but he was just silent.’
The man said he hoped Malik’s housemates would rush to his aid and the brutal assault ‘seemed like forever’.
Describing how he felt when he got out, he said: ‘Shock kicked in, I just became numb. At the time I thought it was just the neck [which had been attacked].’
He added: ‘I feel the attack has changed who I am as a person, I’m no longer the happy-go-lucky person I once was.

‘I now have to sleep with a light on, I don’t like being in dark rooms alone as this brings on flashbacks.’
The victim also revealed how seeing emergency service lights, or a person rummaging through their pockets, triggers flashbacks.
Judge Simon James told Malik that he was ‘remorseless’ and his actions ‘frenzied, persistent and prolonged’.
He added: ‘You produced an 18-centimetre bladed kitchen knife and without any warning or motive you slashed your victim’s throat, before repeatedly slashing and stabbing his body.’
Malik will have to serve at least two-thirds of his custodial term before being eligible for parole, then a further two on licence.
