A man has been left shocked after a parcel he posted in 2013 turned up nine years later on his doorstep.
Michael McQuaide, 67, realised it was a roll of vinyl which he had posted to a customer on October 23, 2013.
Clearly, it never reached its intended destination but miraculously found its way back to the amused retiree.
Bemused Michael said: ‘It was quite strange to see this package arrive on my doorstep.
‘It was a surprise to see it and when I looked at it, I couldn’t believe it. The date on the package still says October 23, 2013.’
The Southampton resident posted the package at the time he started his DIY and equipment supplier business, Union Mart.
Since then, the business has expanded and moved around four times but his home address has always remained the same.
The parcel was originally bound for Bridgend in south Wales, but for some unknown reason never managed to arrive on the intended doorstep.

When Michael opened the package yesterday, he discovered the vinyl still fully intact but it was beyond its use-by date.
A label on the package says ‘unable to deliver this item’ which Michael says is ‘strange’.
‘I never expected things to go missing, and nowhere near for this length of time,’ he said.

The mystery deepens as Royal Mail was unable to provide an explanation as to why the parcel did not arrive on the intended doorstep.
A spokesperson said: ‘Incidents like this happen very occasionally, and we are uncertain what happened to cause this incident in this instance.
‘We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.’
