A man has caused outrage after being filmed running over a pigeon on his mobility scooter.
CCTV shows the man hit the bird while smoking a cigarette and dragged it along several feet under his wheels, while travelling at around 4mph.
He then looks back down the street in Norwich, Norfolk, towards where he hit it in an apparent attempt to ‘check if he got it’, some claim.
The footage, from 10.04am on Monday, has been posted on social media by pigeon fan group Peck Savers.
The group claims it also has images of the man bashing the pigeon over the head to finish it off, but members say they have not posted them because they are ‘too distressing’.
Peck Savers says the man had ‘no reason’ to suddenly veer towards the pigeon because no one was walking towards him.
The group said it has reported the incident to Norfolk Police as a wildlife crime.
Peck Savers posted on Facebook: ‘We are trying to find out who this man is to help the police with their enquiries.

‘He seemed to swerve to hit a pigeon who was resting on the pavement. Then, after the pigeon survived and tumbled out from underneath his scooter, he got up, steadied the pigeon under his foot and then crushed his head with his walking stick.
‘So if anyone knows who he is, or if you witnessed this, please let us know so we can forward the info.
‘Or indeed, if the man is innocent and has an explanation for his behaviour, that too can also be sorted out with the police.’
Earlier the group posted the CCTV video online with a caption saying: ‘Deliberate or not?’
A message added: ‘The pigeon walks down the road, settles there for a moment and then this guy seems to steer into him?

‘There was no other pedestrian going up the hill for 10 seconds prior to account for his sudden direction change? What do you think? Anyone know who he is? Would like to pass his identity onto the authorities.’
One Facebook commenter pointed out the man had ‘hit the bird by accident because he wasn’t looking where he was going’.
They said the man appeared to raise his hand to his head out of shock – but others claim he may have been taking a puff of his cigarette.
A Norfolk Police spokesperson said: ‘Pigeons and other pest species listed under General Licenses (GL) can be killed for very certain reasons and if certain measures are met.
‘In this case, no GL will apply so it is an offence in these circumstances.’
