A man has died after being found slumped outside a hospital with stab wounds.
Detectives believe the victim, aged in his 20s, was knifed in Clapham High Street, southwest London, at around 4.45am on Saturday and was then driven to King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill.
Police officers there dealing with another matter spotted him lying seriously injured and gave first aid while summoning medics to help but the man was declared dead a short time later.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of murder on Saturday evening and remains in police custody.
The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers while formal identification is yet to be arranged.
A post-mortem examination held on Sunday at Greenwich Mortuary gave the cause of death as stab injuries.
Detective Inspector Matt Denby, specialist crime, said: ‘As I begin work alongside dedicated colleagues and homicide investigators, my thoughts and sympathies are with this man’s family and friends.
‘I can assure them of our total commitment to finding whoever was responsible and bring them to justice.
‘I am appealing for any witnesses who are yet to speak with police to make contact with us and share what they saw or anything that they know.’
