England have a huge challenge to deal with in Kylian Mbappe on Saturday in the World Cup quarter-final, but Luke Shaw says it would be naive to only focus on the PSG forward and not the rest of the France team.
Mbappe has been the star of the show in Qatar so far, scoring five goals so far, including a spectacular brace in the 3-0 win over Poland in the last 16.
Arguably the best player on the planet right now, the 23-year-old presents a huge threat for the English defence, but Shaw says the Three Lions cannot only think about him going into the game.
With the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud also in the French team, Mbappe is far from the only danger.
‘Obviously after his performance (against Poland) there’s going to be even more chat about him but we know he’s a world-class player,’ said Shaw.
‘I think it would be very naive of us to focus purely on him. They’re reigning world champions for a reason and we need to focus on them as a whole team.
‘They have brilliant players over the whole pitch so we’re not going to fully focus on him, but it’s an amazing tie to be involved in and that’s why we’re here.’

Both teams produced a 3-0 win in their last outings, with England thrashing Senegal by the same scoreline as France dispatched Poland.
Shaw hopes Gareth Southgate’s team will take the morale from that game into their meeting with the world champions, as they will need to be full of confidence against the French.
‘It needs to give us confidence and the belief, it’s obviously not going to be easy. They are reigning world champions and they are that for a reason,’ said the Manchester United full-back.
‘It will be a very tough game and mentally we have to be ready and focused because we have to be at 100 per cent to win this game and we know that.’
