Anton Danyluk has revealed he somewhat ‘regrets’ going on Love Island back in 2019 due to online trolling he’s since received.
The Scottish gym owner and fitness influencer has opened up about the negative comments and ‘bullying’ he’s faced, saying it reminded him of difficult times at school.
Anton, who was coupled up with Shaughna Phillips on series five of the reality dating show, revealed comments like ‘Wtf did you do to your face! Looks like you’ve been stung by 100 bees lol’ have been affecting him, which he didn’t think he would be able to handle had he not faced bullying as a child.
He said: ‘It’s funny because I was bullied when I was a kid for being overweight and that was the main reason that I physically got into living a healthier lifestyle.
‘Now, all these years later I’m getting bullied in a different form. I don’t think I would have been able to deal with it as well as I do now if I’d never gone through that when I was younger.’

Anton continued to Mail Online: ‘I’d be lying if I didn’t say it affects me some days. Some days it doesn’t bother me at all. Some days I’m just like, “That’s absolutely fine.”‘
He continued: ‘There are days that I have my bad days with it, but I always try and just ignore it and at the end of the day it’s just trolls.’
When asked if he ‘regrets’ his time on the show, the 28-year-old added: ‘Yeah, I mean, I think we’ve kind of called it the Love Island curse, it’s like a catch-22.

‘I do sometimes wish that I never did so I didn’t have to go through that but then at the same time I’m like, “Well, I’ve got this platform where I can put out good.”‘
To try and help those facing what he once faced, Anton and his mum are launching an app, The Can-Do Crew, to help children’s mental health.
He said he hopes it means children across the world will be able to ‘deal with their mental state as well and not have to go through what I go through on a daily basis.’

Anton has previously spoken out about whether he’s had any plastic surgery after fans claimed he looked ‘unrecognisable’.
‘Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of hate and it’s a lot to do with my face. A lot of people are accusing me of having work done to my face,’ he explained last year.

The star, who rose to fame two years ago when Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea took home the £50,000 prize on Love Island, wanted to put the rumours about his appearance to bed.
He continued: ‘It’s my life, I can do what I want. If you want to go out and drink every night and that makes you feel good about yourself, go do that. If you want to go to the gym, you go do that, that’s your life.’
Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
