Louise Thompson got real about her health in a new Instagram post, revealing the hectic nature of the festive season has started to take its toll.
Explaining to her 1.4 million followers that she’d hosted 12 family members over the weekend and knocked up a killer spread, the former Made In Chelsea star said a virus she’s been harbouring for more than three weeks had taken a nasty turn.
‘I’ve been totally deaf on the right side for a couple of days,’ the doting mum explained, adding: ‘You in some, you lose some.’
It’s been a tumultuous year health-wise for Louise, who spent weeks in intensive care after welcoming her little boy Leo into the world in 2021.
Louise almost died after suffering ‘serious complications’ in the delivery room and has spent much of 2022 bravely documenting her battle with post-traumatic stress disorder and post-natal anxiety.
Offering an insight into her weekend celebrations, Louise took to Instagram on Monday to post a series of snaps of her party-ready kitchen and looked typically stylish in a bright pink jumper while posing next to her immaculately decorated kitchen table.

Louise wrote: ‘Kicked off the festive season with a weekend full of FUN people. Did a long overdue family style supermarket shop, had some much needed GIRL time, then we hosted our first sit down meal at the house since having LEO.
‘We hosted 12 family members, everyone pitched up with something to eat or drink and people got their hands DIRTY in the dishes. It was a total delight.
‘Talking of delights, would anyone like some chicken with their butter? Ryan has become a dab hand at throwing all the right ingredients into a roasting pan.’
She candidly added: ‘I scrapped all of my dietary rules, ate like a total pig…inhaled homemade Yule log and hopefully totally unrelated to the above, had an absolutely s**** day today.
‘It couldn’t have been less productive if I tried and i’ve been pretty panicky and paranoid about all sorts of things all day.

‘I’ve had a blocked nose and no taste or smell for 3+ weeks now… the infection (or virus) has successfully made it’s way over to my ear and i’ve been totally deaf on the right side for a couple of days. (side note: it’s not covid).’
Louise went on: ‘I really didn’t want to go on anti b’s because my gut is finally in a really decent place, but I think I might need a bit of bloody help. Why does everything have to have a silly side effect?
‘You win some, you lose some I guess – That’s my pretty uninspiring motto for today.
‘I did however really enjoy decorating our table in clashing red and pink colours whilst swanning around it like a serious grown up with a Kate middleton-esq hairdo and wearing a cashmere vs velvet combo with old Chanel boots that I scooped up from a Saks closing down sale in New York circa 2019.’
What is lupus?
According to the NHS, lupus is a long-term condition that causes joint pain, skin rashes and tiredness. There’s no cure, but symptoms can improve if treatment starts early.
Lupus is not always easy to diagnose because it can be similar to other conditions, with symptoms including inflammation of different parts of the body including the lungs, heart, liver, joints and kidneys.
The condition can range from mild to severe and often flares up with symptoms becoming worse for a few weeks and sometimes longer. Symptoms then settle down, but the reason why symptoms flare up or settle down is not known.
Lupus is generally treated using anti-inflammatory medicines like ibuprofen, hydroxychloroquine for fatigue and skin and joint problems and steroid tablets, injections and creams for kidney inflammation and rashes.
It comes after Louise revealed she’d been diagnosed with lupus earlier this month, holding back tears as she confirmed blood tests had come back positive for the condition.
She shared on Instagram: ‘I had a call yesterday with one of the rheumatology guys and they got more of my blood test results back and the diagnosis is that I’ve got drug-induced lupus.
Louise first suspected she had lupus in October after uploading a photo of a rash across her face.
