Steven Gerrard has been approached to become the Poland national team manager according to reports.
The Liverpool legend has been out of work since October after he was sacked by Aston Villa following an awful start to the season.
Poland are on the hunt for a new manager after Czeslaw Michniewicz left the role following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
After qualifying from their group alongside eventual champions Argentina and at the expense of Mexico and Saudi Arabia, Poland were knocked out at the round of 16 stage when they lost 3-1 to eventual runners-up France.
Reports from Poland now suggest that Gerrard has been approached to take over the European side, though other names are also in consideration.
Saudi Arabia manager Herve Renard and former Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic are said to be in the running as well.
If Gerrard was to take the job it would reunite him with two of his former Villa players, namely right-back Matty Cash and centre-back Jan Bednarek.

It would also make him only the third foreign manager of Poland, following Dutchman Leo Beenhakker and Portuguese Paulo Sousa.
One of the greatest midfielders of all time, Gerrard made 710 appearances for Liverpool, winning many accolades including the 2005 Champions League.
Soon after retiring at LA Galaxy, the 42-year-old worked as a youth coach at Anfield before becoming Rangers manager in 2018.
In Glasgow he enjoyed great success winning the Scottish Premiership in 2021, Rangers’ first title in 10 years, and going unbeaten in the league that season, before moving to Villa Park later that year.
But after a decent start, the Villans faltered under Gerrard despite a generous summer spending spree, and after just two wins in their opening 12 games he was dismissed and replaced by Unai Emery.
Should he become Poland manager, his first task will be to get them to Euro 2024, with qualifiers beginning in March as the Eagles take on Czech Republic, Albania, Faroe Islands and Moldova.
