Glee star Lea Michele has claimed she tried to make amends with many of her former co-stars after several shared their difficult experiences working with her.
Running from 2009 until 2015, the teen drama followed students involved in the New Directions glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School.
At the centre of the club was Rachel Berry, played by Lea, while other cast members included the late Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera and Mark Salling, as well as Kevin McHale, Amber Riley and Chris Colfer.
The show was still running when rumours of tension on set started emerging, but things kicked off in 2020 when actress Samantha Ware publicly accused Lea, 36, of making her life ‘a living hell’.
Since then, there have been other Glee actors who have come out to speak about Lea’s behaviour towards them, with Heather Morris calling her ‘unpleasant to work with’, and Rivera writing in her 2016 memoir that Lea displayed ‘diva antics’.
Now Lea has said she has used the past two years to ‘take a step back’ and ‘sit back and reflect’.
‘I did a lot of personal reach-out,’ she explained.

She added that she had conversations with some people that were ‘incredibly healing and very eye-opening’.
‘I’ve been doing this for a really long time and I’m not going to ever blame anything on the things that I’ve been through in my life,’ she told Interview magazine.
‘But you also can’t ignore those experiences or deny them. They are a part of the patchwork of my life.’

Speaking about the process, Lea said that ‘what matters most is how you make people feel’ and that she ‘wanted to introduce people to who I am now’.
She also said that she was ‘grateful’ to have the opportunity to apply the things she had ‘learned’ over the past 10 years in a ‘positive way’.
The actress is currently starring on Broadway as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and explained in the interview how she was working to make amends.

Previously addressing the allegations made against her, Lea’s initial statement when Samantha spoke out included how she wanted to ‘be better in the future’.
Apologising to those she had hurt, Lea said it was important to ‘take the time to listen and learn about other people’s perspectives and any role we have played or anything we can do to help address the injustices that they face’.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to representatives several of Lea’s former co-stars including Samantha Ware, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Kevin McHale.
