Months after quitting her post as Love Island host, Laura Whitmore has joined a brand new dating series that will explore the trials and tribulations of finding love in the digital age.
In August, it was announced that Laura was stepping down from the ITV programme after presenting it since 2020, explaining that she’d found ‘certain elements’ of the show ‘difficult’, including flying back and from the UK.
Soon afterwards, it was revealed that Maya Jama would be taking her place, who said in a statement: ‘I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows!’
While Laura has been busy since her departure announcement, making her debut on the West End, she’s now set to take on a new project, a dating show called Date Night set to premiere on Prime Video.
Created by Dragonfly Film & TV, the reality series will be narrated by Laura, as the people taking part try to find love on dating apps with the help of their loved ones, who’ll be helping them every step of the way.
However, you won’t find the participants on Bumble, Tinder or Hinge for the show.

Instead, they’ll be using a bespoke dating app ‘with a twist’, as their profile and matches will be blasted onto the TVs of their living rooms… meaning that their friends and family will be able to see everyone they get up to in the dating app world.
Their close pals and relatives will watch as they swipe for potential dates and chat with prospective suitors, offering up their own comments on who they think could be a good match across six 45-minute episodes.

‘Date Night is an innovative new format that will resonate with the millions of people who have been swiping left and right in the hope of finding love over the past decade,’ said Richard Bond, managing director for Dragonfly Film & TV.
‘We have an absolutely brilliant group of people looking for love and we’re crossing our fingers that Cupid’s arrow hits the target for some of our contributors.’
When Maya was announced as the new host of Love Island, Laura threw her support behind her successor.
After Maya shared a post revealing the news on Instagram, Laura commented underneath, writing: ‘Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab❤️x.’
Date Night will launch on Prime Video.
