Salisbury train crash: Latest news from the Wiltshire where two trains collide
A major incident has been declared in Salisbury because of a train crash. In Wiltshire, where two trains crashed earlier on Sunday Evening police and rail agencies arrived on the scene coordinating a multi-agency incident. The two trains collided in the South West of England. “Many people have been injured, but fortunately there are no fatalities,” reported the British transport police.
This has been reported as “a large scale, multi-agency response working closely alongside our colleagues in Wiltshire”. WTX News will remain on scene throughout the night bringing you the latest news updates.

The collision happened near London Road and involved a South Western Railway and Great Western service. Several people were injured after two train cars collided in Fisherton Tunnel in Salisbury.
Train crash sounded like a Bomb
A train driver, who was trapped, was treated by paramedics. In total, 17 people were taken to the hospital.
The crash happened at 18:46 GMT when one train hit an object in a tunnel, and the second train then collided with it due to signalling problems.
Other train services in the area, close to Fisherton Tunnel in the city, have been halted.
A mother who was out trick or treating with her family nearby likened the noise of the crash to “a bomb”.
Britsih transport police investigating on scene
British Transport Police said a casualty centre has been set up at St Mark’s Church on St Mark’s Ave, with local people offering support in the form of blankets, food, drinks and first aid.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps tweeted: “My thoughts go out to those affected by the serious rail incident near Salisbury.”
He said the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and Office of Rail and Road will investigate, adding: “We need to understand how this happened to prevent in the future.”
Latest information for commuters
Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Salisbury and Andover all lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on 02/11/21.
