It doesn’t matter how many times we’ve seen an underdog scene unfold in a film, it’s always our favourite.
We loved watching Peter Parker overcome bullies and use his powers to swing from buildings as Spiderman.
We loved watching an orphaned Bruce Wayne conquer his fear of bats and become a total badass.
We love the formula because it works – just as it looks like it’s over for the underdog, he surprises everyone and beats the bad guy.
Well, if you were walking through Wollaton Park, in Nottingham, on Sunday, you would have noticed this David versus Goliath-style scene playing out in real life.
A humble city rat looked utterly doomed as a crow more than twice its size grabbed its tail in a hunt.

But, in a moment that may as well have been scripted, the rodent broke free from the bird and spun around to launch an impressive counter-attack.
While still in the air, the rat bared his teeth and pushed his claws forward to scare the crow away.
The fierce animal will no doubt be faced with choosing between Marvel and DC contracts soon.
He’ll need a deep voice and some eye makeup for the latter.
