Charles went above and beyond talking about his prostate surgery in advance, reinforcing the importance of regular doctor visits. This is definitely not the norm, says royal expert Angela Levin.
King to be treated in hospital for enlarged prostate
King Charles is scheduled to have prostate surgery this week, which was made public in a statement released by Buckingham Palace, and as a result, searches for “enlarged prostrate” dramatically increased.
Royal expert Angela Levin appeared on GB News, saying: “The King’s knock is common, but nobody has ever said that the King should say exactly what he’s got, especially when over such a special part of his body.”
Ms. Levin gives him a lot of credit for talking about his surgery in advance, saying: “The amazing thing is one of the charities that deals with problems like that, say they have had a hundred and one percent more people ringing up and asking for help, which is extraordinary and very brave.”
The NHS website’s page on prostate enlargement had 16,410 visits on Wednesday, following the Buckingham Palace announcement, which equates to one visit every five seconds.
Levin said: “It’s absolutely extraordinary, there has never been three royals — well, two royals and one ex-royal — who have actually had quite serious things going on.”
The expet was referring to Charles, Princess Kate’s abdominal surgery and Sarah Ferguson‘s skin cancer diagnosis.
Charles has taken a break from his public duties this week as he prepares for surgery.
Ms. Levin adds: “As Queen Camilla said, ‘He can’t wait to get back to work.’
“He’s quite well in his mind, and he could’ve gone somewhere, but it makes it very awkward, because he has to keep rushing to the toilet. You can’t do that. You’ve got to be dignified. And be able to do it.”
